one of the most stimulating books on storytelling

This second edition of James Bonnet's guide to storytelling expands on the original by some forty pages. Like Christopher Vogler, Bonnet is inspired by C. G. Jung and Joseph Campbell's works, so anyone acquainted with The Hero's Journey will feel at home immediately. However, Stealing Fire goes far beyond the basic hero myth. Bonnet traces the entire LIFE of the hero, from his auspicious beginnings to his final doom. In this way, he opens the door to telling other types of stories than the overexposed coming-of-age hero myth - and about time too.

Another important concept here is the `whole story', namely the entire sequence of events which form the backdrop and the future of the screenplay or novel. For instance, if we consider World War II to be a whole story, then Casablanca and Saving Private Ryan are specific moments of its storywheel.

Stealing Fire is an incredibly rich book, filled with ideas and concepts which stimulate the storytelling mind. However, it's not an `easy-to-use' method which depends on a single, easy to remember formula. The second edition material is mainly concerned with making the book more immediately practical for writers. It succeeds, but there are still many concepts and ideas here which could have been treated in more depth (for instance the Anti-Hero's Journey is described in just two pages). I also feel that the visual representation of the Golden Paradigm described here is too complex and abstract. Nevertheless, James Bonnet's book is thought-provoking, insightful and creatively exceptionally stimulating.

A heartfelt thanks for an amazing writing guide.

I am an independent filmmaker and writer now living in Hollywood, and I just recently finished the latest edition of Stealing Fire From the Gods.

Bonnet's work is absolute genius. I have always had this burning conviction inside myself as a writer to tell the TRUTH. To pull realism from the aspects I see in life and craft my characters to be real and true and human. I knew I had an even more important goal to achieve as a storyteller, but I couldn't put my finger on it. When watching films that had it, I of course could point it's quality out, but I did not know how those film's invisibly touched me. Unlike most films, I related to these few great ones somehow and "got" what the filmmaker's were trying to say in such a way that they moved me. But why?

I read the first ten pages of Stealing Fire in a bookstore, and my jaw dropped..... This was it!!!! This is what I've been working toward in all my stories. This is the REAL truth. I've read the book now, and am so enlightened. No kidding, I would pay thousands of dollars for the wisdom it's awakened inside me now. Bonnet has shown me how I always wanted to tell stories and gave me the easy ways to break them down into the blocks necessary to build them. The secrets to those movies I'd see that touched me, are no longer invisible and I understand them now. This story model literally breaks down any story and helps you understand the energies at work, and when applied to your own storys, it helps act as your compass to tell you what is working and what is not genuine.

I cannot thank Bonnet enough for how his work has changed my writing, and my feature film script (which was missing something) really started to fall into place for me once I read Bonnet's work.

This book has taught me that to be a Great Writer, I need to teach my audience the ancient lessons I have learned in my life, and enlighten them as I would a friend. The Great Stories are how we've always shared this wisdom and how we evolve as humanity. Fascinating!!!!

As you read this, know that I am not someone paid to write this for the author or publisher, spewing ad copy to sell this book. James Bonnet's work has truly changed me, and I mean that from my heart. If you read this Mr. Bonnet, thank you for your amazing work.

About the Author

ANURAG S. RATHORE is a consultant of Biotech CMC Issues. He is also a faculty at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India. His previous roles included management positions at Amgen Inc., Thousand Oaks, California and Pharmacia Corp., St. Louis, Missouri. His areas of interest include process development, scale-up, technology transfer, process validation, process analytical technology and quality by design. He has authored more than 180 publications and presentations in these areas. He is presently serving as the Editor-in-Chief of Preparative Biochemistry and Biotechnology and serves on the Editorial Advisory Boards for Biotechnology Progress, BioPharm International, Pharmaceutical Technology Europe and Separation and Purification Reviews. Dr. Rathore has edited books titled Quality by Design for Biopharmaceuticals: Perspectives and Case Studies (2009), Elements of Biopharmaceutical Production (2007), Process Validation (2005), Electrokinetic Phenomena (2004) and Scale-up and Optimization in Preparative Chromatography (2003). He has a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Yale University.

Gail Sofer: After serving as the director of Regulatory Services at BioReliance for 6 years, Dr. Sofer has recently joined GE Healthcare (formerly Amersham Biosciences) as the director of Regulatory Compliance in a new consulting team. Her publications include numerous articles and book chapters on downstream processing, virus inactivation, and validation. She has also coedited and authored several books. She serves on the Science Advisory Board of PDA, the Editorial Advisory Boards of BioPharm, BioQuality, and BioProcess International, and the Scale-Up Advisory Board of Genetic Engineering News. She chairs a PDA task force on virus filters and is cochair of the ASTM subcommittee on Adventitious Agents for Tissue Engineered Medical Products. She holds an M.S. degree in biochemistry from the University of Miami.

The content is almost identical to the existing book

The content of this book is almost identical to the book entitled Process Validation in manufacturing of Biopharmaceuticals edited by Anurag Singh Rathore and Gail Sofner From Informa. Only a few title is newly added. I have no idea other titles are revised or updated because I have no intention to purchase this kind of repetition book.

The third edition of Process Validation in Manufacturing of Biopharmaceuticals is a mix of new and updated chapters. I particularly enjoyed reading the chapters on new US FDA guidance on process validation, risk based validation and process validation with a CMO. Overall, I felt the book remains THE reference on the subject of process validation, particularly for biotech therapeutics and is a timeless reference and guide on the subject and is applicable to any drug manufacturing process that employs chromatography. Kudos to the editors and authors for such a great job!

Excellent reference resource; perhaps you need a deep understanding of validation to follow it. My suggestion is to include examples (483's, approval letters etc...) or to design activities you can use with prospective students that are required to use it as a textbook for a process validation course.

Let me start off by saying that nothing has liberated me from my internal struggles with step-motherhood like this book has. It has allowed me to feel okay about how I feel. Before my marriage I knew I was going to need some good advice on step-mothering so I bought a book on it. (And many others since) Regrettably, it was not this book as it was not yet published. THIS is the book you need. This book was written by a stepmother, for stepmothers. A negative review of this book could only come from someone who has not experienced step-motherhood!

Since many won't read this review in its entirety, I must get this out right now...If you are contemplating marriage to a man with children then let me share a secret that no one shared with me... There isn't anything fun about a step family, and to elaborate, there is nothing fun about being a stepmom. I thought that step-motherhood was a mission I could undertake and I thought my gain was going to be far greater than my loss. I assure you... I was wrong!! No one warned me AT ALL of what I was facing and I am straight up pissed off about that. Being a step-mother makes for a difficult, lonely life and it doesn't ever feel like a real family. So I hate to sound bitter here, but the fact is, I am bitter. Save yourself the heartache. This is not what marriage (or family) was intended to be. Read this book and take heed! If you are not moved to seriously reevaluate your decision to marry this man, then you are a hopeless optimist. You will, throughout your marriage, be able to relate to damn near every sentence in this book.

Stepmonster - Even the title might scare you from reading it. Who would want to admit that they might be a Stepmonster? And you could certainly never let anyone see you reading this book. I bought this book instead of getting it from the library as I normally would to avoid the embarrassment and shame I would feel if the librarian might wonder if I were really a Stepmonster. I bought a book cover so I could read it in public places. And this book encompasses that reality in and of itself. I am of the fortunate step mothers who have 'good' step kids. And rarer yet: 'good, teenage, step-daughters'. Yet I still find myself feeling these step-monsterish feelings, which has lead me to feel horrible about myself and doubt the heart of what I know to be true...I am a good person.

My best friend is a step mom also,(Thank God)and I told her 2 things about this book before I was even 3 chapters into it.
1) Wednesday has been reading my journal. She has pegged my sentiments down to the quotation marks when I write about my 'family'.
2) Outside of our honest communication with each other, reading this book is the most therapeutic thing I have experienced since becoming a step-mom. It is important to have other stepmothers to talk to because no one except another Stepmom can truly understand and surely never show sympathy or compassion for an evil (or not so evil) Stepmom.

Stepmothers don't get permission to feel anything less than never-ending love and understanding toward their step-kids. Yet those very step-kids are almost expected to dislike and reject their stepmothers, and understood if they do. All the while our husbands and the rest of society expect the adult (us, even if the children are also adults) to take the high road in the face of the steady pain that is inflicted upon us. Our step children are never expected to love us like they love their mothers (or even like us) but we stepmothers are not offered any clemency if we do not love our step children like we would (or do) love our own, and God forbid we don't even like them. Why?!?! If it weren't for the fact that I am the older of the 2 of us I would never be expected to accept such an injustice or demonstrate such pure sacrifice. Absurd! But there is no doubt that this is our reality.

Wednesday also touches on the fact that our husbands contribute to our pain as much and sometimes more than the kids themselves; either by excusing or defending his child's actions, disregarding our feelings, not acknowledging our hurt, blaming us for not possessing the ability to bond or for not trying hard enough, regularly placing their children's needs before ours, or taking their side in a disagreement. This makes for a lonely, sad and unfulfilling marriage at the very least. But more likely adds to that, anger, regret, resentment, hopelessness & misery that you may have otherwise never had to experience if you had married a man who loved you first and foremost.

I still have genuine moments of admiration for his children. They really are good kids, with good hearts. The truth is that if they were not my step-kids I could be free to love them for the wonderful spirits they are. But their mere position in my life and mine in theirs creates a barrier to that flow and serves as a daily reminder that I did not come first and there is nothing that can change that reality...Ever!

Bleak as it may be, I have found it to be 100% accurate. I felt validated at every turn of the page. By the end of the book I felt more human than monsterish, and that, my friend, hasn't been the case in over 5 years. Thank you, Wednesday, for that invaluable gift. Your book has allowed me to love me again!

Finally a Stepmother-Centric Perspective...

In a word: "Wow!"

This is truly a first-of-its-kind book about stepmothering as it focuses exclusively on the needs, perceptions, emotions and experiences of the stepmother. Thank you, Wednesday Martin, for finally giving stepmothers validation and a voice. Well-written and impeccably sourced, it presents an unflinching look at stepmothering. I couldn't put it down and read it in one day!

I know from personal experience, both as a stepmother and stepdaughter, that stepparenting is one of the toughest and most thankless jobs in the world; compassion fatigue is a real risk. And, unfortunately, to date, most of the books disseminated by the blended family/stepparenting industry are child-centric, advising newly-blended families to put the needs of the children from the prior marriage first. Add to that all of the messages from popular culture, media, etc. that subtly and not-so-subtly vilify stepmothers (e.g., "Cinderella") and it should come as no surpise that second marriages with stepchildren fail at such an alarming rate. "Stepmonster" brings a fresh perspective to this particular sub-genre of self-help books; I sincerely hope it is but the first of many books to fairly explore the precarious role of the stepmother in modern family life.

My personal take-away message from this book was that, as stepparents and stepchildren, we are, to each other, non-essential personnel and must strive to form our bonds based upon civility and mutual respect (picking up after oneself doesn't hurt either!). We don't have to a have a perfect relationship or one that mimics the biological parent-child relationship. Rather, the stepparent-stepchild relationship can take many forms, ranging from a close, warm, family-like interaction to an arms-length but cordial experience, depending upon each individual. Most importantly, a stepmom owes it to herself to carefully evaluate what she can and cannot give her stepchildren in order to preserve her family and avoid burn-out.

Kudos to Wednesday Martin!

What Every Stepmother Needs to Know

Wednesday Martin could have written a moving memoir about her own experiences as a stepmother. She could have pieced together an enlightening narrative from interviews with stepmothers. Or she could have done a scholarly, rigorously researched treatise on what history and sociobiology have to say about stepmothering. Instead she has done all three, succinctly and articulately, in fewer than 300 pages.

Stepmonster dares to speak uncomfortable truths: that even the nicest stepmothers and stepchildren frequently don't like each other; that it can take years for stepfamilies to settle into something resembling a satisfactory adjustment; that stepmothers and stepchildren virtually never form bonds as close as birth parents and children; and that all of these things are completely normal.

For any woman who is a stepmother or is considering becoming one, this book is like water in the desert.

Its purpose is to introduce the non-specialist to some of the fundamental results in the theory of numbers, to show how analytical methods of proof fit into the theory, and to prepare the ground for a subsequent inquiry into deeper questions. It is pub� lished in this series because of the interest evinced by Professor Beno Eckmann. I have to acknowledge my indebtedness to Professor Carl Ludwig Siegel, who has read the book, both in manuscript and in print, and made a number of valuable criticisms and suggestions. old-fashioned material but still very attractive

I bought this book in 1986 and used it since then on a number of occasions to set up elementary problems on number theory for my students; although you will find nothing on RSA algorithms (for example...) inside (book was written in 1968), this book covers a lot of ground in (not so) elementary number theory; it is well organised and I found it very nice to read and work with. The last parts cover Dirichlet's theorem and the prime-number theorem among others (uniform distribution modulo 1 and Kronecker theorem on irrational numbers).

Good companion to Hardy and Wright

This book covers similar material to Hardy and Wright's book. I think Hardy and Wright is stronger, but Chandrasekharan's is still a worthy book. One difference that I've noticed is that I don't remember seeing contour integrals anywhere in Hardy and Wright, while Chandrasekharan uses them in his proof of the reciprocity formula for generalized Gauss sums (he uses the formula for Gauss sums to prove the law of quadratic reciprocity). At first sight some of Chandrasekharan's proofs may seem long, but they are straightforward to follow by a diligent reader. You don't need penetrating insight to be able to follow the proofs.

Since I prefer Hardy and Wright, I think the best use of Chandrasekharan's book is to turn to when you want to see a topic in Hardy and Wright explained in a different way. I think that Chandrasekharan gives a cleaner presentation of Kronecker's theorem than Hardy and Wright do. Also, rather than Selberg's proof of the prime number theorem as given in Hardy and Wright, Chandrasekharan gives a proof using the Wiener-Ikehara theorem in Tauberian theory.

This book consists of only about 150 more pages, and the contents
it present just ordinary and can be easily found in other textbooks which is much cheaper!!! I only recommend for those people who think they are rich!! There are many other choices!!!!

Cities in Civilization explores these issues and others related to the central role of cities, past and present, in the fostering of artistic, philosophical, scientific, and technological genius.

Peter Hall devoted 15 years of his life conceptualizing, researching, and writing Cities in Civilization. His extraordinary efforts are apparent in the analytical scope, historical depth, and sheer length of the book, which, including photographs and a bibliography, is well over 1,000 pages. Supporting his argument with ample reference to dates, historical figures, and citations of leading urban scholars, the book does not lend itself to casual, cover-to-cover reading. Despite the book's length, though, it remains easy to navigate through the case studies of individual cities. Hall systematically divides the text into five thematic chapters, further subdividing each chapter chronologically by city. What brings a city to its golden age? Hall (Cities of Tomorrow)?a distinguished professor of urban planning?applies this question to cities ranging from Rome and Athens to Glasgow, Memphis and Palo Alto in his new survey. His conclusions, like the book itself, are diffuse. Examining cultural belle epoques, Hall contends that it was, ironically, the restrictiveness of the official artistic culture in turn-of-the-century Paris and Vienna that fueled startling innovations, as new artists were forced outside the mainstream. Looking at technology, Hall argues that an unfettered market is a great stimulant to invention?as in the heydays of Glasgow's shipbuilding trade and Manchester's cotton textile manufacturing?but, as both cases show, it also leaves cities vulnerable to the losses that result from other cities improving on their initial innovations. Turning to the fusion of cultural and industrial innovation?using L.A.'s film industry and Memphis's pop music scene as examples?Hall asserts that the success of both rests on recognizing a "society in flux" and catering to "the deepest emotional needs" of an important, untapped market. Hall next examines the great successes?and boondoggles?of urban planning over the last two centuries (as well as in imperial Rome) before ending with a coda in which he applies his accumulated insights to the future cities. Hall's broadmindedness allows him to draw useful insights from thinkers as diverse as Joseph Schumpeter and Michel Foucault. While it may not come as a great surprise that neither entirely unregulated markets nor rigid central planning, but a little of each?with a pinch of kismet?will bring a metropolis to its peak, Hall must be commended for making this case with unusual thoroughness.

Like Braudel's and Holmes's, Hall's thesis here is that "the biggest and most cosmopolitan cities...have throughout history been the places that ignited the sacred flame of the human intelligence and the human imagination." Case studies illustrate themes such as the city as cultural crucible, the milieu for innovation, etc. Other recent larger studies of historically important cities include Robert Hughes's Barcelona (LJ 10/1/91) and Roy Porter's London: A Social History (Harvard Univ., 1995). The Jacques Barzun of the city

This book reminds me very much of Jacques Barzun's FROM DAWN TO DECADENCE both in size and scope. Barzun looked at 500 years of Western cultural life and Sir Peter Hall has much the same interests, although he goes back some 2500 years and is more narrowly focused on urban culture. The title CITIES IN CIVILIZATION could be the other way around as Hall is interested in the Golden Ages that seem to have been a feature of all the great cities in history. "The Renaissance" he says "was an urban phenomenon; so was every great burst of creativity in human history." Hall then is seeking the civilization in cities.
Two other books that this one could be (should be, has been) compared with are THE CULTURE OF CITIES and THE CITY IN HISTORY, both by Lewis Mumford. Hall knows this and quickly dispatches the comparisons. "I do not at all share the Mumfordian view that the great city is doomed." Fair enough but his work remains valuable to urban historians and Hall's comment that "Mumford was fundamentally a brilliant polemical journalist, not a scholar" is uncalled for and irrelevant. I'm glad Hall got his academic tetchiness out of the way early and didn't bring it up again, because being subjected to such jibes and digs over the course of the 1000 pages of this book would have been unpleasant. And Hall doesn't need to resort to that anyway.
This book is a detailed, well researched exploration of the unique nature of the city as "a crucible of creativity". The first section of the book looks at artistic creativity - the most recognizable type of Golden Age and most closely associated with the foundation cities of Western civilization - Athens, Vienna, Florence, Paris, London and Berlin. Other themes are innovation and its technological and economic manifestation in urban settings. Here we visit Manchester, Glasgow, Detroit, San Francisco (more accurately Palo Alto and "Silicon Valley") and Tokyo. Hall then looks at two cities - Memphis and Los Angeles that he says offer a mix of artistic, technological, and economic exuberance. He is referring to the music and film industries. In his final section he acknowledges the emergence of regional urban areas and global cities and while recognizing the challenges they pose, he is not daunted and remains optimistic about the future of urban life. His coming Golden Age of a new urban order faces three challenges. That of transport technology and sustainable urbanism, an unequal urban world (the megacities of the Third World) and the threats to economic, family, and civic life.
If persons with interest in any aspect of urbanism don't find some mention of their pet subject in this vast sweep of urban life over the last two millennia, it's simply because they haven't waded through. And that's the only caveat about Hall's work. In the best traditions of old English learning this book is dense and it's not written in the snappiest of prose either. Cities are a testament to the slow processes of humanity. You'll have to rely on one of those tendencies - patience - when working your way through this book. In the end it's well worth it.

A superb analysis of how cities induce innovation

Do not be put off by a conventional title. Under the appearance of academic urban history this is an account of the urban sources of cultural creativity and technological innovation throughout history, from Athens to Florence, to London, to New York, to Paris, to Los Angeles, to Silicon Valley, and beyond. It deals with art, culture, music, technology, business, power, dreams and nightmares. Wonderfully written by one of the most distinguished urbanists in the world, this book delights, informs, and explains why certain people in certain places create, prosper and enjoy life, and others don't. A Masterful Historical Study of Majestic Sweep

Peter Hall's book "Cities in Civilization" is a masterful work with majestic sweep. Although not meant for everyone, this book provides insights into history and culture like no other. Hall looks at the golden ages of cities to illuminate their influence on great cultural achievements as well as economic and technological development, and then draws comparisons to discern what it was about these places that enabled them, of all cities, to become what they became at a particular time in history. The creative bursts of classical Athens, Renaissance Florence, and Shakespearean London are thoroughly discussed and utterly fascinating. The music of Vienna and the artistic creativity of late 19th and early 20th century Paris are literal courses on Western culture. The decadence and creative explosion of Weimar Germany is thoroughly explored before Hall turns his attention to industrialization and technology.
Hall is especially good, in the midst of his analysis, at discussing various theories of social change from Marx to Schumpeter, and Weber to Harold Innis. He details the reasons for industrial and technological growth and invention in 18th century Manchester, 19th century Glasgow, and 19th and 20th century Berlin. His discussion of Detroit and Henry Ford is particularly interesting. Silicon Valley and Tokyo are also discussed, and never does Hall loses sight of how their creativity permanently affected human civilization.
His section on "The Marriage of Art and Technology" is fundamental to an understanding of mass culture in the 20th and 21st centuries. Hollywood and "The Delta" region around Memphis are discussed for their impact on movies and popular music. These two sections are utterly fascinating. And his lengthy last section, which some readers may find the least interesting, deals with how many of the world's great cities have adapted to deal with increasing size and changing needs. Here Hall profiles the changes in the cities themselves, as well as changes in the cultural and social environment, of ancient Rome, and modern London, Paris, New York, Los Angelas, and Stockholm. The social experimentation in equality and how it affected housing in Sweden is particularly interesting.
All in all, if you have the stamina to read 1,000 pages you will be served a wonderful course on the development of Western culture and material civilization, as well as gain a fuller appreciation for the role of the great city in history. We are all in Sir Peter's debt for his years of study and the preparation of this book. His erudition and immense learning are greatly appreciated.

About the Author

Chade-Meng Tan is an award-winning engineer, international bestselling author, thought leader, and philanthropist. Simple, quick, super-effective practices for increasing joy in your minutes, days & years

I first came across "Joy On Demand" by chance when I walked into Meng's talk at the 2016 Wisdom 2.0 Conference. And boy was I glad! In the space of his short talk, he delivered several simple, quick, highly effective mini-practices to bring up joy in our lives. The overall framework has three steps: 1. Easing into joy: putting the mind in a restful state such that ease and joy positively reinforce one another. Meditation is the cardinal tool here. 2. Inclining the mind toward joy: noticing and appreciating joy that is already available to us. What's good in your life right now? What suffering is absent? 3. Uplifting the mind: focusing on goodness, generosity, loving-kindness and compassion.
The mini-practices are where this book shines. As a meditation teacher, I've noticed that many find the idea of sitting still for 10-20min a day daunting. Well, the mini-practices take just a few seconds, and they can be just as beneficial. Heck, don't take my word for it -- just try these out right now and notice how they make you feel:
• The "3-breath Exercise" is simplicity itself: take one deep, slow breath while you attend to the breath itself; take another breath to relax the body; and take a third to bring up some joy, perhaps with a little half-smile on your face.
• Really notice and savor that first bite of food, that first minute in bed, that first minute under the shower.
• Take 10sec to wish joy for 2 random people.
• Uplift the mind by thinking of someone uplifting, like the Dalai Lama, Buddha, or Nelson Mandela.
The book is lighthearted and easy to read, with many quirky cartoons illustrating Meng's points. If you were to incorporate even a fraction of the techniques Meng describes, you will noticeably increase the amount of joy in your minutes, days and years, and of those around you, too. "Joy On Demand" is precisely the kind of book that allows you to access a better version of yourself, and by extension, a better world.

Treat yourself to Joy on Demand and rejoice!

The central thesis of Joy on Demand is that happiness is trainable through skillful meditation. I highly recommend the book because it delivers on the promise of its title by presenting a clear road map of a sequence of practical mind-training steps that help ease people into an introspective journey of discovery. Moreover, the author's trademark humor and humility belie the elegant logic as well as the textual and scientific underpinnings of his research-based findings and experiential observations.

I also appreciate the open-mindedness and pragmatism that permeate the book: "[T]he paths are not mutually exclusive . . . The thing about the different paths is that each has its own upsides and downsides, so they work much better for some people than others, depending on goals, inclinations, aptitudes, and life situations. For example, the ease and joy path is good at helping large numbers of ordinary people establish a solid practice." Few have the bandwidth to immerse in intensive studies of ancient texts and erudite treatises that are replete with linguistic and interpretive challenges or to attend lengthy meditation retreats. Because the format and content of this entertainingly engaging book are highly accessible (i.e. do not require elucidation by intermediaries) and the approaches conducive to immediate experimentation (e.g. I tried many of the exercises as I read the book), the author's compassionate intention to "benefit the maximum number of people" is bound to bear fruit.

As a novice to Buddhist texts and commentaries who has a keen interest in understanding the role of spiritual practices in technology and innovation driven contemporary society, I found this acknowledgment particularly insightful: "The wisdom and training methods that afforded me this dramatic change in my life trajectory come from the Buddha. In fact, all that is good in me comes from the Buddha and his teachings. I was lost, but now I'm home." The nuggets of wisdom generously sprinkled throughout the book encourage both reflective respite and the exploration of spiritual sanctuaries.

Last but not least, I found great resonance with one of the conclusions: "In any kind of difficult situation, especially one that appears prolonged, I must aspire to have the determination to not give up, and also to cultivate the inner peace, inner joy, and compassion to be at ease as much as possible." The straightforward tips in this primer on mindfulness meditation provided me with not only instructive value but also expanded my positive thought-action repertoire.
