Excellent fantasy!

I "stumbled" upon Michael Stackpole's fantasy works beginning with [Talion: Revenant] and was instantly captivated by his storytelling. So far, I've collected most of his fantasy novels and have to say that he maintains a consistent level of excellent writing in all of those works!
I eagerly awaited the publication of [DGW] and finished it over a weekend! The ending is a bit surprising, but I think that makes the novel all the more original. The character development and the maturation process for Tarrant Hawkins is very finely done.
I just finished the follow-up, [Fortress Draconis] last night and have to say that this is one series that I can't wait to read all the way through! And unlike some authors, Mr. Stackpole has already stated that this will be a trilogy ([DGW] is the prequel), so there is a light at the end of this tunnel.
In summary, I highly recommend this novel and all the other fantasy novels by this great author. Although I haven't ventured yet into his sci-fi works, I plan to do so soon and expect the same level of excellent writing!

Had to purchase this again because I gave my copy out. I would give just about anything to see this as a movie. This is 10x better than The Hobbit. This is for grownups. A book you will want to read over & over.

One of my favorite books.

This book is awesome. The first 20 pages or so are a little bit slow and kind of weird if you just took a glance at it. But don't be turned away. You'll soon realize that all the history information on masks and rituals means a great deal to the later story line.
Again, this book is awesome and anyone who likes fantasy books with magic and sword fighting will love it. I really like the way Stackpole describes magick and how it works.
Definitely pick this book up. Don't forget to get Fortress DRaconis, else you'll regret it when you finish this book.

About the Author
Ronna Magy has been an ESL adult educator for nearly three decades. She currently serves as ESL Teacher Advisor for LAUSD's Division of Adult and Career Education. Since 2000 she has been involved with Staff Development and teacher training. Ronna is the author of several ESL textbooks including US Citizen, Yes, Life Skills and Test Prep, Stories From the Heart and Beginning Stories From the Heart, and Working It Out. Ronna has been a regular presenter at adult education conferences including the Division of Adult and Career Education's Fall Conference, California Council on Adult Education, CATESOL, and TESOL since 1982. Patrick has a knack for making business reading enjoyable, and making the heart of the message clear. Even when the truth is hard to face, this book won't let you leave without wanting to deal with your team's underlying issues. Every leader should read this book.

This book is a fairly decent fable on running a business. Patrick builds up the story about two rival companies, but despite being rivals, one outperforms the other constantly. Patrick starts the story by describing each firm and the internal clockwork that keeps them running. He then goes on to describe the rival company that's constantly outperforming the other. which all boils down to 4 disciplines on a yellow sheet of paper, but we don't get to find out until the end of the story. And that's when it gets really good

The 4 disciplines turn out to be simple, yet powerful things. and if we as CEOs can incorporate this behaviour in our firms, then we would be winning too. Well once the other firm isn't doing this... also i must mention that Patrick has one of the best writing styles i have ever seen, i felt fairly relaxed as i relished the jolly welcoming font he used in this book, i liked how he broke up the paragraphs so that you felt as if you could take a breather to think about what he said for a few mins or more, and then get back into it. As opposed to other books that have a tendency to let their paragraphs lead onto 4 pages or more. I'll be the first to tell you i haven't read a million books as i've seen other do but I have read 70 books+ so i feel i'm fairly qualified to say such a thing.

If you're new to "how to run a corporation" type books, this will be really beneficial to you, on the other hand. if you're fairly learnt in this area, then it will probably serve as an enjoyable fable that you managed to pick up some decent tips from

Good, Not Great

One of my favorite leadership books is Patrick Lencioni's The Five Dysfunctions of a Team because the parable format is highly suitable to demonstrating the concepts that prevent teams from becoming cohesive and the actions to increase cohesiveness really make a business impact. This book is a welcome addition to Lencioni's library on leadership and I took quite a bit away from it. I give it 4 stars only because the parable portion of the book wasn't nearly as compelling as that of the aforementioned TFDOAT. Very quick read and very actionable insights here. Check it out!

Hayes beats Chiltons for great tips and details

I find Hayes manuals to be a bit better than the similar Chilton's manuals due to their extra detail, and tips. They also can be $5 cheaper for some models. This version is great because it lists only 3 model years, thus leaving out some of the clutter of having up to 8 different model years included. You can still do much better by getting the actual factory service book, which is written just for your car, and in MUCH greater detail. Most do-it-yourself home mechanics will be fine with a Hayes manual, however.

The Haynes Accord 90-93 repair manual is good book to have around.

Don't Waste Money on Haynes

Almost totally useless. For one, it suggests I use 10-40 oil when the oil cap says 5w30 - huh? It offers no actual helpful information on how to actually perform a repair, especially with the low-grade black and white photos. What a joke these manuals are.

Best casebook for 1L

So, if you're buying this book, it's because you're required to, not because you love reading about Torts. But, good news! It's about as fun as a casebook can be (which is, admittedly, not very). It's well-written, clear, and doesn't hide the ball. Cases are not followed by 15 citations to obscure law review articles (unlike some other casebooks I could mention), but are followed by explanations that highlight the different approaches states take & that explain any confusion contained in the decision. In short, you'll probably find this casebook more approachable than your other casebooks.

This book is what I thought it would be. I am a first year law student and this is the required case book for class. The cases can be fascinating. I'm not sure if I would recommend this to anyone not interested in U.S. rules and regs.
